Do you need a passport to go on a cruise?
US Passports on Cruises It depends on your itinerary: Cruises that begin at a US port and end at the same US port: No passport required Cruises that begin at a US port and end at a different US port: Passport required Cruises that begin or end at any foreign (non-US) port: Passport required Always check with your travel agent or cruise line about identification requirements. When in doubt, bring your passport. It can't hurt to have it. The US State Department released the newest cruise guidelines in June 2009: "Effective June 1, 2009, the following rules take effect for cruise passengers: U.S. citizens on cruise voyages that begin and end at the same U.S. port (closed-loop itineraries) must show proof of citizenship* and government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license). A passport will not be required for passengers that fall into this category. *Proof of Citizenship documents include: Original or certified copy of birth certificate; Naturalization papers; Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by Department of State All other passengers and/or itineraries (such as cruises which begin in one U.S. port and return to a different U.S. port or any cruise that begins or ends in a foreign port) will require a passport or other recognized document. For a list of accepted documents, see travel.state.gov." It should be noted the above only applies to US citizens. If you visit a country of which you are not a native, you should always bring a passport. Further, it is recommended that you get a passport anyway. If for some reason (illness, other emergency) you must leave your ship and fly back home early, you must have a passport to do that. With passports being valid for 10 years (for adults), the cost works out to around $10 per year. Why would you want to take a chance and not have one?

Why won't they let you smile in your passport photo?
There are now biometric scanners in airports that are meant to prevent fraud and terrorism by providing additional identity verification. Smiling is actually considered an unnatural expression, which makes it more difficult for this facial recognition software to work effectively. According to Angela Aggeler, spokeswoman for the State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs, smiling "distorts other facial features, for example your eyes, so you're supposed to have a neutral expression. … The most neutral face is the most desirable standard for any type of identification.”

From the getyouhome.gov website: U.S. citizens who board a cruise ship at a port within the United States, travel only within the Western Hemisphere, and return to the same U.S. port on the same ship may present a government issued photo identification, along with proof of citizenship (an original or copy of his or her birth certificate, a Consular report of Birth Abroad, or a Certificate of Naturalization). Please be aware that you may still be required to present a passport to enter the foreign countries your cruise ship is visiting. You are a Canadian citizen visiting US Do you need to return to Canada to marry a US Citizen?
If you are talking about getting married in Canada, then no paperwork is needed. In the US a fiancee's visa, which takes four months to get, is required. Answer nope.. you can get married but you won't be able to work. I AM LEGALLY married to an American man and i am Canadian. I got married to him on a visit last fall... right now, however we are living apart dealing with some of our own issues as to where to live. You can be married but you may not be able to work. As a Canadian you can visit up to 181 days without losing your medical plan back in Canada. Think about all the old ladies that live in Canada during the summer, and Florida in the winter....... they can visit, they just can't work legally.
How long can you legally stay in the US with a tourist visa?
Answer The standard length of admission for a B1/B2 visa is 6 months in most ports but as with most admissions it is up to the determination of the inspecting officer. Most people who are tourists can not afford to be away from their homes or jobs for more then 6 months. Some one who is coming for medical care might request up to a year for the treatment. With the proper documentation an officer can grant that request without having to consult with a Supervisor. Most other people if you are looking to gain admission for more then 6 months you are either looking to do something that is not permitted by law on a tourist visa or looking to illegally work in the U.S. Just remember a visa only gets you on the plane to come to America. It is 100% up to the inspecting officer if you get admitted or returned home. Getting caught in a lie is the fastest way to find yourself on a plane back home. The actual truth of the matter is that all tourists visas are not equal. A B visa class is not part of the Visa Waiver Program and is connected with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and is unique to Canadians in that they don't need to apply for one to pleasure travel. In effect, all Canadians travelling to the US arrive on a B-2 visa and it's time frame is 6 concurrent months. Other countries can obtain and apply for different classes of visitors visas OR come to the US via VWP. It is also incorrect that you cannot get your stay extended under the VWP, but since that's not what we're discussing it doesn't matter, does it? Please refer yourself to the State Dept website or USCIS for correct and current information regarding visas particular to your country and be wary of internet advice! Good luck!

Does a us resident need a visa to travel to Spain?
It is not your residency which defines if you need a visa, it is your nationality (citizenship) US Citizens do not need a visa when they travel to Spain for business or for personal travel for up to 90 days. A US visitor will need to present a valid US passport (valid three months beyond intended stay), proof of sufficient funds and a return airline ticket. If you are not a US citizen, then you may need a visa, depending on your nationality.
