What time zone is 3 hours behind California?
It depends on what you mean by "behind." If you mean the time zone where the clock is three hours behind California, then it would be the "Eastern" time zone - when it's 7 pm in San Francisco, it's 10 pm in New York. If you mean the time zone where it will be noon three hours after noon in San Francisco, then it's the "Pacific Ocean" time zone - when it's 7 pm in San Francisco, it's 4 pm in American Samoa. In other words, America is 3 hours "behind" San Francisco. The time zones that are three hours behind Pacific Standard Time (UTC-8) are American Samoa Standard Time and Niue Time (UTC-11). The time zones that are three hours behind Pacific Daylight Saving Time (UTC-7) are Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time, Tahiti Time and Cook Islands Time (UTC-10).

Why is los angeles airport called LAX?
The letters "LAX" is the IATA identifier code for Los Angeles International Airport. This code is used to identify the airport in radio communications and in navigation equipment & charts. When the airport was founded in 1928, it was given the simple 2-letter identifier "LA" for Los Angeles, however in the late 1940's these identifier codes were standardized across the US as 3-letter codes. The "X" was added simply because something had to be added, and doesn't stand for anything.

How did the Los Angeles Lakers get their name?
The Los Angeles Lakers franchise started out in Detroit in 1946 as the Gems. After one season in Detroit the team was sold and relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota and the team's name changed to the Minnesota Lakers. The motto of the state of Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes", hence the nickname Lakers for the team. The team again relocated, this time to Los Angeles, in 1960 and retained the nickname Lakers.
