What is control group in science?

The one not experimented on.

The control group is used to compare results to, to check that the changes you made during the experiment were responsible for the results seen in those groups.

In other words, you use the control to confirm if the results shown in the experiment were caused by the independent variable (the variable that you change and are trying to investigate).

Can an O positive woman and O negative man have a healthy baby?

Yes, the blood type does not affect the baby.

The information provided does not predict any major incompatibilities between the mother and the child during pregnancy. However, the ABO and the Rh factor are only part of the prenatal care picture. There are many, lesser known, blood groups that could cause HDFN (Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus or Newborn).

What does a 314 white blood cell count mean?

It would be helpful to know what the units of measure are. In hematology, the reference range for a WBC is 4,500-11,000/mm3 ; however, the count is usually reported out in SI units ( for example, 4.5 x 109 /L) or Conventional Units (4.5 x 103/uL). So, on a lab report, a range of 4.5-11.0 is the normal range using these units of measure.

If your report is using the standard units of measure, then a WBC of 314 is considered a "panic value". Extremely high. This could be due to several different processes, such as leukemias, severe infections (though this is still high even for a severe infection), and a handful of other conditions. Only your physician, taking all results and factors into consideration, can tell you where the problem lies.

How you do widal test?

Widal test is done by qualitative method or quantitative method.

Quantitative method:-Take a set of 8dry clean test tubes.

Place 1.9ml saline in tube no.1 and 1ml saline in rest of tubes. Add 0.1ml serum in 1st tube mix well it is dilution of 1:20

Transfer 1ml diluted serum from tube no.1 to tube no. 2 and so on.

Through tube no.7 discard 1ml of fluid after mixing.

leave 1ml saline in tube no.8.

Add one drop of appropriate antigen(use only that antigen suspension which has given a positive reaction in screening test.

Mix well and incubate overnight at 37.c

Examine for agglutination.

Interpretation:- Only a titre above 1:80 should be considered as significant

A rising titre (done each week)is considered to be definite evidence of infection.

What is the difference between total dissolved solids and total suspended solids?

total dissolved solids is how much of the solid is dissolved in the liquid, while suspended total suspended solids is the amount of the solid floating in the liquid. e.g. if you had a solution with both and you filtered the solution then evaporated out the liquid, the solids that you filtered out would be the suspended solids, and the the solids remaining after evaporating the liquid out would be the disolved solids.

What is the name of a person that withdraws blood?

In some hospitals there is a team of phlebotomist, whose main function is to draw blood specimen from indoor and outdoor patient.

A phlebotomist draws blood from either inpatients or outpatients. If you are an inpatient, you can have blood drawn by either a nurse, a Medical laboratory assistant(also called Medical Laboratory technician in the US), or an Medical Laboratory technologist. These people all have additional training other than just drawing blood. A phlebotomist is only trained in drawing blood, not other tasks.

How long will THC be detected in urine?

THC is non-existent in urine, when screening for urine it is only the metabolites and byproducts of the drug that are tested for. For a frequent user, the substance may stay in the system up to 40 days after abstaining from use of cannabis or cannabis containing substances. For seldom users, the detection period is from 2-10 days. The metabolites and THC are stored in fat, so the less fat you consume and the more fat you burn, the faster the drug will decrease in content. From a drug test manufacturer:

Cannabis UA testing has a sensitivity/cut-off level of 50 ng/ml (in accordance to SAMHSA standards.)

Detection times for marijuana usage vary depending on the drug potency, tolerance, and health condition, fluid intake at time of test, method and frequency of marijuana use. It is usually not more than 15-20 days for chronic users and 3-5 days for occasional smokers. People who are overweight keep THC traces longer, as marijuana metabolites are fat soluble.

Note that if the initial 50 ng screen shows positive, then a gas chromatography test is used to verify, and that threshold is 15 ng/mg. So while another source claims a daily user is "hot" for 7 to 30 days at 50 ng, the same person might test positive for as long as 15 weeks at 15 ng.

Will honey increase liver function tests?

  • Honey may promote better blood sugar control. Proper fueling of the liver is central to optimal glucose metabolism during sleep and exercise. Honey is the ideal liver fuel because it contains a nearly 1:1 ratio of fructose to glucose. Fructose "unlocks" the enzyme from the liver cell's nucleus that is necessary for the incorporation of glucose into glycogen (the form in which sugar is stored in the liver and muscle cells). An adequate glycogen store in the liver is essential to supply the brain with fuel when we are sleeping and during prolonged exercise. When glycogen stores are insufficient, the brain triggers the release of stress hormones - adrenalin and cortisol - in order to convert muscle protein into glucose. Repeated metabolic stress from cortisol produced when less than optimal liver glycogen stores are available during sleep, leads over time, to impaired glucose metabolism, insulin resistance, diabetes, and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and obesity.

How do you beat a urine alcohol test?

Alcohol stays in your system for a short time so the best way is to drink on the weekends except for Sunday and you will have plenty of time for the alcohol to leave your system. There is no remedy for removing the alcohol from your system other than the natural course of your body's filtration.

People claim that coffee, water and other things can dilute or remove it from your system but that simply isn't true. Just as people claim the same things can dilute the effects of alcohol is also not true.

Alcohol leaves your system like anything else, naturally.

Does charcoal mask an etg urine test for alcohol?

No. Charcoal is effective at absorbing poisons from the stomach and upper gastrointestinal tract -- sometimes. However, ETG tests measure the metabolites of alcohol after they have been created and excreted by the liver. They are then eliminated from the body by the kidneys, in urine. Charcoal has no effect on this process.

The only sure way to pass an ETG test is abstain from all liquids that contain alcohol, even mouthwash.
