What is an explanation of retrenchment corporate strategy?

User Avatar
Retrenchment is a corporate-level strategy that seeks to reduce the size or diversity of an organization's operations. Retrenchment is also a reduction of expenditures in order to become financially stable. Retrenchment is a pullback or a withdrawal from offering some current products or serving some markets. In a military situation a retrenchment provides a second line of defense. Retrenchment is often a strategy employed prior to or as part of a Turnaround strategy. There are five activities that characterize retrenchment: Captive Company. Essentially, a captive company's destiny is tied to a larger company. For some companies, the only way to stay viable is to act as an exclusive supplier to a giant company. A company may also be taken captive if their competitive position is irreparably weak. Turnaround. If your company is steadily losing profit or market share, a turnaround strategy may be needed. There are two forms of turnarounds: First, one may choose contractions (cutting labor costs, PP&E and Marketing). Second, they may decide to consolidate Bankruptcy. This may also be a viable legal protective strategy. Bankruptcy without a customer base is truly a bad place. However, if one declares bankruptcy with loyal customers, there is at least a possibility of a turnaround. Divestment. This is a form of retrenchment strategy used by businesses when they downsize the scope of their business activities. Divestment usually involves eliminating a portion of a business. Firms may elect to sell, close, or spin-off a strategic business unit, major operating division, or product line. This move often is the final decision to eliminate unrelated, unprofitable, or unmanageable operations. Liquidation. This is very simple. Take the book value of assets, subtract depreciation and sell the business. This may be hard for some companies to do because there may be untapped potential in the assets.

What is domaineering?

User Avatar
Domaineering is the online marketing business practice of acquiring and monetizing Internet domain names for their use primarily as an advertising medium rather than as intellectual property investments for resale as is generally the case in "domaining" which "domaineering" is occasionally confused with. In essence, the domain names function as virtual Internet billboards with generic domain names being highly valued for their revenue generating potential derived from attracting Internet traffic hits. As with traditional advertising, domaineering is part art and part science. Often to be the most effective as advertising tools, the domain names and their corresponding landing pages must be engineered or optimized to produce maximum revenue which may require considerable skill and good knowledge of search engine optimization ( SEO ) practices, marketing psychology and an understanding of the target market audience. Domaineering generally utilizes a firm offering domain parking services to provide the sponsored "feed" of a word or phrase searched for. Occasionally content is added to develop a functional mini-website. Domaineers and some of those who advertise online using keywords believe domaineering provides a useful, legal and legitimate Internet marketing service while opponents of domaineering decry the practice as increasing the ubiquitous commercialization of the world wide web. Domaineering is practiced by both large companies who may have registered hundreds or even thousands of domains to individual entrepreneurial minded domaineers who may only own one or a few. Done right, domaineering can be very profitable.

B2b advertising and b2c advertising different?

User Avatar
B2B is Business to Business and B2C means Business to Consumers. While advertising, we always first look from the client perspective, understand their needs and then pitch our product to them. While doing B2B advertising, we only do advertisements that suits a business needs so it is liited to an amount of audience. Whereas, for B2C advertising, we cater to a wide audience, so, we go for mass advertising. There can be a posibility that B2B audiences are wide and we do go for mass advertising but, that will be always different from the advertisements that are for consumers and visa versa.

Never accept a payment marked as a gift and always ship with a tracking number.

How does domaineering domain advertising make money?

User Avatar
According to Professor William Lorenz who coined the term, "Domaineering" is the web-based marketing business of acquiring and monetizing Internet domain names through their use specifically as an advertising medium rather than primarily speculating on domains as intellectual property investments for resale as in domaining where generating advertising revenue is considered more of a bonus while awaiting a sale. In essence, the domain names function as virtual Internet billboards with generic domain names being highly valued for their revenue generating potential derived from attracting Internet traffic hits. Revenue is earned as potential customers view pay per click ( PPC ) ads or the Internet traffic attracted may be redirected to another website. Hence, the domain name itself is the revenue generating asset conveying information beyond just functioning as a typical web address. As the value here is intrinsically in the domain name as an information carrying vehicle and not in a website's products or services, these domains are developed for advertising, ( i.e, "parked" ), and not into "conventional" websites. As with traditional advertising, domaineering is part art and part science. Often to be the most effective as an advertising tool, the domain names and their corresponding landing pages must be engineered or optimized to produce maximum revenue which may require considerable skill and keen knowledge of search engine optimization ( SEO ) practices, marketing psychology and an understanding of the target market audience, including demographics and buying habits. Domaineering generally utilizes a firm offering domain parking services to provide the sponsored "ad feed" of a word or phrase searched for thus creating a mini-directory populated largely by advertisers paying to promote their products and services under a relevant generic keyword domain. Occasionally content is added to develop a functional mini-website. Ethical domaineers contend that their product, i.e., "domain advertising", is a bona fide offering of goods or services in and of itself which provides rights to and legitimate interests in the generic domains they use. This serves as a rebuttal or defense in addressing occasional spurious accusations of cybersquatting on trademarks. Domaineers and some of those who advertise online using generic keywords believe domaineering provides a useful, legal and legitimate Internet marketing service while opponents of domaineering decry the practice as increasing the ubiquitous commercialization of the world wide web. Domaineering aka "domain advertising" is practiced by both large organizations which may have registered hundreds or even thousands of domains to individual entrepreneurial minded domaineers who may only own one or a few.

Where can you sell a collectible model 1894 Winchester rifle online?

User Avatar
Try antiqueguns.com, gunbroker.com, gunsxchange.com Your Winchester was made in 1960, so the BATF considers it a modern firearm. In order to ship a firearm you need to have a dealer with a Federal Firearms License send it to another FFL dealer at the buyer's location, and both dealers will expect to be paid for their services. I believe a rifle can be sent through the US mail, but you have to follow a bunch of rules. Some of the private carriers will not accept a firearm and sometimes the local employees do not know their company rules and refuse the shipment. It's really not worth the trouble for a single sale. It's much easier to sell it locally, unless you live in California, New Jersey, New York, or another state or city that has regulations more restrictive than the federal laws. Be sure the buyer is over 18. Also, if you KNOW or HAVE REASON TO SUSPECT that the purchaser is prohibited from possessing a firearm or is buying it for another person, you could get in trouble. ___________________________________________________________ GunBroker.com and Auctionarms.com are good places to buy/sell firearms. They are also very helpful in setting the ground rules for sending guns through common carriers and the USPS. Handguns can no longer be shipped USPS but rifles can through a FFL. Rifles can be sent by mail to the manufacturer for repairs and shipped back because there is no "transfer of ownership" you can sell it to me. Iflya310@yahoo.com The biggest gun sales place on the internet, almost the eBay of guns, is gunbroker.com Guns America is a good place to sell guns. You can use a classified sale or the optional auction sale. FEDERALLY: You, as a non-licensed person, can legally ship a gun to a licensed FFL DEALER, or to a licensed C&R holder (if it is 50 years old, or older). It is NOT necessary to have a dealer ship it for you. But you cannot ship direct to an unlicensed person if the gun was made after 1898. If you have questions, find a KNOWledgeable FFLDealer and he can give you the correct friendus. Each state has its own laws, so REQUEST from the ATF, a copy of their publication 5300.5, latest revision. It should also be on line, so check that out. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing". So do your research thoroughly.

How can you get more traffic your website without spending too much money?

User Avatar
Share your knowledge Contribute to Q&A sites, forum discussions, in blog posts and blog comments. Create pages for your site on Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon and other social media services while promoting these tools for sharing your content through your website. Social Media Optimization can drive a great deal of free traffic to your website. Search engine optimization SEO is a very powerful method of driving free traffic to your website. Here are a few tips to get you started: Keywords Perhaps the most important aspect of SEO is keywords. Research phrases that are frequently searched for by your customers. You can find these through your traffic logs and keyword research services on the net. Using these terms (but not overusing them) in your page titles, URL (including domain name), incoming links, headers, content, and meta tags will help you rank higher in the SERPs. Anchor text The anchor is the text in a link. It plays an important role in the ranking of websites in a search engine's algorithm. - Anchor text should vary among incoming links (e.g. if you promote a site on demand "mattresses", anchor text of incoming links could be: «super mattresses», «cheap mattresses by wholesale», «we sell mattresses» etc. If anchors are identical everywhere, that can be a red flag that a site is being overoptimized for search engines. - Do not make an anchor too long; an ideal length for the link text is 4 words. Meta tags Meta tags are not as powerful as they once were but still play a factor. Meta tags should list the keywords that you choose to use in your website. This should be enough to get you started. Keep in mind, though, that an experienced professional will maximize your results; don't get scared off by prices, because SEO services can be inexpensive if you find the right person to do it for you. Websites should be attractive and alluring, so it's best to hire someone who knows what they are doing when you are selling a product. It takes time for a website to catch on so be patient. Word of mouth and guerrilla marketing methods can also be very effective. E-mail all your friends and have them e-mail their friends. Keep plugging at improving your website and try to get some professional help with it. Joining a webring is an excellent way to draw traffic to your site. There are webrings for just about any subject or you can always start your own. The best thing about this is that joining a webring is free. Also consider link exchanges. Contact your favorite sites' webmasters and ask to exchange links with them and always keep an eye open for sites that let you add your own link. Use your website and its logo, if you have one, in lieu of a signature on your e-mail. Many message boards and forums will allow you to show a link to your homepage or use a banner/logo in your signatures or posts. Make sure you put your URL on your business cards and stationery too. For more ideas check out some of the many sites out there with resources for webmasters.

How many people in Canada have an email address?

User Avatar
This answer would best be answered by asking the question how many Canadians have Internet access. While not all Canadians may have Internet access they may still have email accounts they access from libraries, friends, or family so the data will not be 100% accurate, but it will be the best way at formulating an answer. Another idea would be to look up an email list broker and see how many emails for Canada they can supply, this will give you sort of an answer however the broker (if good) will only have opt in consumer information so it will be less than the total average.

What is BTL marketing activity?

User Avatar
BTL stans for Below the Line, is all advertisement that is done at outlet/retail level as well as direct marketing. BTL is contrary to ATL that stands for Above the Line - the marketing activities performed via traditional media, such as the press, the tv, cinema, radio. (Corrected) BTL is an activity as used by marketeers to bring in awareness to a specific target market, by following a conventional marcom approach that lays emphasis towards using various Direct Marketing tools. This includes roadshows, placing stalls in malls, participating in exhibitions, undergoing door to door selling, test marketing, in-house public awareness campaigns and many more. This type of marketing activity is often more cheap than ATL and is more focused and rather more quantitative then as compared to ATL that can be more expensive and more qualitative, since it focuses towards attracting the mass market in general.
