What effect does Coca Cola have on teeth?

User Avatar
The acid in soft drinks such as Coca Cola can damage your tooth enamel around the bacterial colony, allowing the bacteria to move into the eroded areas, eventually leading to cavities and possible tooth decay. It only takes about 20 seconds for bacteria to produce acid but the effects can last for up to 30 minutes.

What are the ingredients in Coca-Cola?

User Avatar
The Coca-Cola formula is The Coca-Cola Company's top-secret recipe for Coca-Cola. The formula is considered one of the most closely-held trade secrets in modern business. Only a few top Coca-Cola employees are reported to know or have access to the formula. Merchandise 7X is the "secret ingredient" in Coca-Cola. The ingredient has remained a secret since its invention in 1886. The description of the ingredient is kept in a security vault in a bank in Atlanta, Georgia. Only two people in the company know the formula at any one time. Published accounts say it contains or once contained sugar, caramel, caffeine, phosphoric acid, coca leaf and kola nut extract, lime extract, flavoring mixture, vanilla and glycerin. Alleged syrup recipes vary greatly, and Coca-Cola reluctantly admits the formula has changed over the decades. Officially, from the label itself, as all products are required to list them: Carbonated water High fructose corn syrup (and/or cane sugar*) Caramel color Phosphoric acid Natural flavors (the secret part) Caffeine *Some minor changes, such as the sugar used and the amount of each ingredient, will occur between regions. the ingrdients are love, spice, and everything nice. "Coke" is the Trademark name for Coca-Cola. The carbonated beverage contains water, sugar (or corn syrup), phosphoric acid, flavorings, caramel color, and caffeine. (The slang term coke means cocaine, an opiate crystalline powder that is often diluted with other chemicals.)

How much percentage of acid is there in coke?

User Avatar
The pH or acid level of Coca Cola Classic is 2.5. For perspective, pure water is neutral at a pH of 7. Pure hydrochloric acid is extreme at a pH of 0. At the other end is at a pH of 14. You stomach is too acidic for all but the hardiest of living things to survive at a pH of 1.8-2. The higher the pH the more alkaline or basic. The lower the pH the more acidic. So, yes Coca-Cola is acidic, but not as acidic as the contents of your stomach. The acid in Coca Cola is not bad for your teeth in small amounts, but the sugar is. Be sure to brush often as the bacteria in your mouth have sugar and produce acids that are stronger than Coke, and stick to your teeth, that will cause cavities. If you drink a lot of acidic beverages (soda, lemonade, wine, V8, vinegar etc) it can cause irreversible damage to the protective enamel coating on your teeth, making your teeth more vulnerable to cavities and more sensitive to pain. To minimize acid damage, drink less acidic drinks, use a straw when drinking, or drink water / eat food after or with acidic drinks.

Why did Coca-Cola Blak fail?

User Avatar
Mostly because people preferred to buy their cold coffee drinks from Starbucks (which was marketed in supermarkets by Pepsi) or they didn't like the taste (Coca-Cola and coffee? No thanks). It was pulled from North American shelves in 2007, but (strangely) continues to sell extremely well in France.

Did Coca-Cola create the modern image of Santa Claus?

User Avatar
No, Santa’s image in the American imagination goes back way further than Coca-Cola’s iconic Christmas ads. Santa Claus came over to the United States with Dutch immigrants in the late 1700s. Although his image was constantly evolving, there are definitely instances of Santa depicted as a rotund, red-coat-wearing man with a long white beard that far predate Coke’s use of that image. The cola company started using Santa in its ads in the 1920s, and its most iconic representation comes from Haddon Sundblom’s hand-painted illustrations, which he did every Christmas season from 1931 to 1964. This version of Santa was based heavily on Clement Clark Moore's 1822 poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas" (also known as "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"). Although Moore probably cribbed from other sources, his poem is thought to be mainly responsible for our modern idea of Santa as a jolly old elf. Much credit also goes to political cartoonist Thomas Nast—he depicted Santa Claus in a variety of ways in the late 19th century and served as a major inspiration for Sundblom’s paintings. So, no, it’s not accurate to say Coca-Cola “invented” our modern idea of Santa Claus, but it did help popularize that image.
